So the Radon Level in Your Home is Above 4.0 pCi/L!

Some states have regulations regarding mitigating Radon… Please consult with the Health Department in your state.

States that regulate Radon Mitigator’s usually provide a list of licensed or certified individuals.

You may contact your States Radon Office, States Health Department, or the Federal EPA (website: www.epa.gov, phone: 800-438-4318) for more information regarding Radon Mitigation.

States that regulate Radon testing and mitigation can be found at the National Radon Proficiency Program (website: www.neha-nrpp.org, phone: (800-269-4174).

It is important to note that high levels of Radon in your home can be fixed and corrected.  You should feel more comfortable and have peace of mind living in a home that has a mitigation system.

Mitigation systems are now considered to be a home improvement and investment to the homes safety.

How Radon is Mitigated
Although every home has a measureable Radon level, it’s presence is everywhere, even outdoor air typically has 0.2 to 0.7 pCi/L of radon. However, when a home or commercial building is found to have radon levels that can be considered hazardous, action can be taken to reduce it to acceptable levels. There are several methods that can be used to permanently correct this problem.

The most common approach is what is known as "Active Sub-Slab Depressurization" or (ASSD). This method involves drawing the radon gas (and other pollutants) from the soils that are directly adjacent to the structure. In order for this method to be effective, a sealed barrier between the home and the soil must be available to divert the radon gas away from the home.

99% of all radon problems can be corrected by use of Active Sub-Slab/Membrane Depressurization. This is the preferred method of radon mitigation since it primarily involves extracting radon gasses from beneath the home’s foundation (which is the air from soil, or “dirty” air.) Since these systems are designed to avoid the loss of “conditioned” (heated or cooled) air from the home, they have very little impact on the efficiency of the home.

If your home requires mitigation and you live in the Chicago / Chicago Suburbs area you are welcome to call…
